This course introduces university-level educators to the foundational concepts, tools, opportunities, and challenges of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into higher-education teaching and learning. Through theoretical grounding and practical, hands-on work, participants will explore how AI can enhance lesson planning, content creation, assessment, student engagement, personalized learning pathways, and institutional teaching strategies, while remaining critically aware of ethical, equity, and pedagogical implications. By the end of the course, educators will be able to design, deploy, and evaluate AI-enhanced curricula, resources, and assessment strategies suitable for their discipline and student populations.

Completing this course will help you:

  • Identify and critically assess a variety of AI tools applicable to higher-education teaching (e.g., content creation, grading, personalized learning, classroom management, analytics)
  • Design lesson plans, learning materials, and assessments that leverage AI, while aligning with academic standards and goals.
  • Implement AI-enhanced assessment and feedback strategies, including formative and summative assessments, rubrics, and analytics-driven student support. 
  • Reflect on and address ethical, privacy, fairness, and equity issues when integrating AI into educational contexts.
  • Develop a strategic plan for integrating AI in their courses or within their department including considerations for sustainability, scalability, and continuous improvement
