Success Stories

Senior Business Analyst @ Scotiabank

Job switch from a different field is not easy. You need to have a growth mindset and stay committed during the process.
If you are reading this, you are probably actively planning for your career, and you want some changes. It could be to switch to a completely different career path, it could be to advance your skills so that you have a broader view and more options. It may not always be an easy choice, but once you decided, go for it. Have a growth mindset, commit to your goals, keep your head up, and work for it. Best of luck in your own journey! You will get there.
Albert Ngan

Azure Engineer @ CIBC

It was a lot of hard work but it paid off with the final outcome.
There’s a big debate about Bootcamps in general. There are plenty of self-taught people out there, especially on youtube, who promote it as a way to save money. It’s valid but I believe that many people (if not most) don’t have that iron-willed determination to power through a complicated and comprehensive curriculum like Data Engineering by themselves. Most of us need classmates, instructors, and TAs helping to push us along. You also have to consider the opportunity cost – the time between starting the Bootcamp to starting a new job for me was roughly 7 months. I highly doubt most people could accomplish that in the same amount of time going the self-study route. Note that other more-experienced classmates landed jobs even earlier too. Looking at the big picture, getting yourself to market outweighs the savings.

Data Scientist (Finance)

Career mentorship was very helpful during my job search.
I know this transition process can be challenging and daunting at times. For me, there were days I didn’t want to do anything at all. The pandemic just exaggerated that. On those days, take your time to recuperate, pick yourself up where you left off, then know that this is just temporary and “This too shall pass” (I love this quote). Also, you have the help from the bootcamp people at every step of the way so don’t hesitate to reach out. I wish you all the best in your transition journey and find your dream job that you have aspired to.
Farius Tjioesman

Senior Data Engineer @ JLL

I proved that there is room for everyone. Never too old to learn.
WeCloudData is the pioneer in this ecosystem. If you are considering a career switch, thinking to improve your current skills, they have all the alternatives. There are successful and less successful stories. But with strong efforts, positive energies, data passions there are many opportunities to stay busy with data roles.

Data Analyst (Insurance)

You have to learn to deal with the stress!
I wanted to share that while I was studying data science, there were many times that I wanted to stop due to the stress. Others may feel like this too. However, when you complete your studies, you will definitely be able to find a job – I’m sure you’ll feel very happy after and be able to lead a different life from before (as a bonus, the salary is great too!).

Data Engineer

WeCloud helped me land my dream job at Accenture
The real client projects helped me a lot – in one of the interviews I had, the interviewer asked me about a big data project I did with BeamData.
Stan Taov

Data Engineer @ Telus

From business and marketing to data engineering, my hard work paid off with WeCloudData's support
I like this quote by Nelson Mandela- “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” Now when I look back at the path I took to realize what I like doing it might look somehow impossible, but focus, dedication and passion can lead you to achieve some of those impossible things. I recommend that you find your passion and keep pursuing it. In terms of technical requirements focus on SQL and Python, these two “must-to-know” if you want to become a successful Data Engineer.
Michael S.

Data Scientist @ DevFacto Technologies

Real client project helped me gain practical experience after my post-doc
Before joining WeCloudData, I was a postdoctoral researcher. However, during that time, I wanted to work towards my future and goals in Data Science. I did some research online for different Data Science programs and came across WeCloudData. What stood out for me with WeCloudData was their real-client projects and strong referral network. This was definitely something I wanted as I could build my portfolio and connect with professionals in the data industry.
Mingzhi Sha

Data Scientist @ Bell

Real project helped expedited my job search after graduating from a CS degree
The real project experience helped me greatly in job searching. Every interviewer is extremely interested in the project experience, and they keep asking questions about that. I can tell my project experience is the pitch point. Some interviewers are even subscribers to my client company, and therefore they can get how my work can contribute to the client company. Another advantage is that the story of working with other people can exactly help me to answer behavioural questions. Overall speaking, project experience makes my resume look solid and enables me to stand out from other candidates.
Yi Zheng

Data Engineer @ Nielson (Precima)

I struggled as a new immigrant with 15 years of experience. WeCloudData made a huge impact!
The last real project I worked on is related to the job I landed. I took part in three projects at BeamData. My last project was about supply chains. My current company was looking for people with experience in supply chains, so they had asked me about my project experience. So it was directly related.

The Bootcamp is more than just the courses, it is the beginning of many possibilities. For example, it is a good platform for networking. Your peers come from different backgrounds and experiences, and they bring fresh perspectives and information you might not know before.

You will also share a lot in common, you are here because you all have goals, you all have put in thought and work into your career development, and you are going to go through the intensive program or work on projects together. This will be a bonding experience and you will find friends here.
