Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and your journey to where you are today?

I have an educational background in statistics, big data, and machine learning.

I started to work as a data engineer during a project of creating a GCP cloud infrastructure for a digital department at a bank. Then I realized that I am talented in it. So I became curious about the most trending technologies and started taking some online courses here and there.

One day, my friend told me about this program, in which I can learn the most trending technologies all at once. It suits my need at that moment.

Postgraduate, WeCloudData paired me with a great career mentor who encouraged me a lot and helped me landed on a new job as a senior data engineer.

What did you find most enjoyable or interesting about the Data Engineering program at WeCloudData while being a student? Was there any aspect of our course curriculum or teaching style that stood out to you?

I can study on my own time. All courses are videotaped. All practices can be done at any time and with no deadline. Whenever I need help, I can easily msg TA or ask during TA sessions.

How did the Instructors and Teaching Assistants (TA’s) support you during the program? Did you find their knowledge and expertise helpful?

Yes, they are very knowledgeable and share expertise from real business.

Based on your previous education experience, how did online classes compare to learning in-person?

It’s harder to stay focused during online classes compare to learning in person. Ex: I have a dog. Sometimes he barks during my classes.

Do you have any tips for current students on how to be successful in online classes?

Learn with a purpose. Know what you want and stay focused. Time is limited.

Step 1: an interview with HR

Step 2: an interview with the hiring manager

Step 3: a technical interview including case study and coding test

What sort of impact do you feel your Data Engineer diploma from WeCloudData made on potential employers?

I believe there’s an impact from WeCloudData DE diploma.

Do you have any words of advice for current or future students planning on pursuing a career in Data Engineering?

There are many different roles in Data Engineering. I suggest talking to a mentor from this industry and picking a few roles that are most suitable for you.

Most importantly, know your uniqueness and what you are good at.

How has your life changed since you graduated from WeCloudData and gotten a job in the industry?

I did not stop learning and practicing. I still learn a lot from reviewing the course after graduation.
